From: To: Subject: 10/28 meeting minutes Date: Tuesday, October 29, 2002 12:32 PM Here are the minutes for yesterdays meeting. On the Labscale: Dustin, Otto, Tom, and Nick are doing the machining. This includes squaring the ends, fitting the flanges, and doing the welding. Mike, Tala, and Erica are working on the stoppers for the fuel molds/chambers. They will be looking at mold releases and different stopper materials. Nick, Tala, and Erica are making the fuel. They have already done a test batch which should be out of the ovens today. They will also be doing the fuel for the full-size engine. This will include some curing tests as the ovens aren't big enough for the full-size chamber. Erica, Mike, and Xalin are working on the sensors for the data acquisition system. Tom and Nick are working on the feed system. They have decided to use the steel wool method of ignition for the labscale. Right now, they are looking into component pricing and will be ordering materials and components by the end of this week or the beginning of next. Otto is finding a test facility for the labscale as well as designing a test stand. It was brought up that Risk Assesment needs to be included throughout design. We need to design for controlled failure. Also, all components need to be tested before being integrated. Tests mentioned included pressure tests with Nitrogen and hydrotesting. A short agenda for Wednesdays meeting is as follows: PDR comments Schedule/budget UROP proposal Personal updates Thanks to everyone for attending yesterday and getting a lot done. Tala
