These are the Palm Pilot notes I took on the trip:

BIKE TRIP 2:

1) left boulder at about 7pm. I was a little late (okay, about an hour late), & Darrick freaked... So he called the state patrol. I pulled up while he was on the phone w/ them. lol. Kind of funny.

2) hwy 285: stopped in Fairplay to get warm. 100.0 miles. 100-150 from fairplay to BV.

3) Buena Vista: BV BABY!! K's was closed. Pulled in around 10pm. Ate.

4) Got a room at an EconoLodge in Salida. $75. Asleep by 2am. up at 8:30. 173 miles.

5) hwy 50: Salida to Durango. Ate bfast.

6) hwy 149: opened the bikes up all the way from hwy 50 to Creede. So Intense! 110-150 most of the way. 347 miles so far. friggin' beautiful fall colors. 36 mpg on this stretch.

7) Darrick's rear tire is almost worn through to the belts. Calling Montrose right now for options. 970-249-8161. It's ~160 miles from Crede.

8) Monta something via hwy 160. Got a U-Haul for Darrick. Ate chinese. Called Ray in NM.

9) Alamosa. 415 miles. Gas, called phyllis & irving... Weren't home. Decided to go to Las Lunas NM anyways.

10) hwy 285 South: lubed chain at 435 miles. Fast, straight road. Almost ran into a cow.

11) Santa Fe: gas, called phyllis & irving again. Got 48 mpg on this leg.

12) 1427 crestview. Bed by 1am. Up at 8, gone by 9. 680 miles. Can't find camera.

13) NM hwy 60. 163. aRocket test site. 710 miles.
Called Ray Calkins. 10:30 am firing. Directions to site: 1-25 to exit 175 (hwy 60 E) 10 miles east .7 miles past mile 172 dirt road on left N on road 2 1/2 miles 1/2 mile off road to the east.

14) I-25: 761 miles. gas N of Albuquerque. 60 mpg! Called Darrick. He has my camera. Lubed chain. Left at 4:30pm.

15) I-25: still. Gas, 40 mpg, 908 miles. 6:30pm. Butt hurts. Almost to colorado.

16) Colorado! 980 miles.

17) I-25: Pueblo: 1076 miles. tucked at 100+ most of this tank. 44 mpg.

18) I-25: stopped in colorado springs to lube chain. 1122 miles. 10:12pm.

19) Stopped at Darrick's. Got my camera. relief...

20) Home! (finally.... ouch) 1225 miles!
